Sukkot's behavior is a "disgrace" to public leaders, Eisenkot stated. "He lied and deceived the IDF and its commanders, harmed security and tarnished the entire State of Israel."

The IDF confirmed that it had diverted troops from standard operational duties to guard Sukkot and his aides on what he called a 'memorial tour' in several villages in Areas A and B in the West Bank.

"Hamas remains the main obstacle to further improving the situation in the Gaza Strip," a senior COGAT official said.

The West Bank has been the site of several violent outbreaks in recent weeks at several flashpoints, including Kusra and Gilad Farm near Nablus, as well as Yatta and Sa'ir near Hebron. 

Following their arrest, Southern District Police Commander Haim Bublil signed an administrative order closing the property for 30 days.

A 48-year-old Kafr Aqab resident was detained and taken for further questioning by the INPA on suspicion of committing offenses including the trade, possession, and hunting of a protected species.

"The world no longer sees Israel as a genuine democracy – there is nothing democratic about depriving others of their rights and land," an open letter from the ambassadors read.

Furthermore, UKLFI puts forward the argument that bans on trade could "harm the very Palestinian population it is supposedly intended to assist."

New polling presented by Khalil Shikaki shows declining confidence in Hamas and the Palestinian Authority, growing support for negotiations, and a potentially decisive role for Marwan Barghouti.

Israel Police received a report of the incident, opened an investigation, and are preparing to enter the area with the IDF.
