According to two sources familiar with the discussion, ministers were told that Iran's economy had deteriorated sharply under the US-led naval blockade of the Strait of Hormuz.

"This agreement is going to make Israel safer, going to make the entire region safer. We feel quite confident that the Israelis are going to be brought in," Vance said in a CBS interview.

Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said earlier on Saturday that the US and Iran have agreed to a framework for a peace deal to end the months-long conflict in the Middle East.

Iran also threatened to completely block the Strait of Hormuz, claiming that there would be no talks until its demands on the cessation of Israel's operations in both Lebanon and Gaza were met.

The latest proposal sent by the United States, which was shared with the Israeli sources, reflects a tougher stance by US President Trump on both the Strait of Hormuz and the nuclear program.

A first round of peace talks in Pakistan concluded without a pact, but Reuters reported on Thursday that Tehran and Washington had reached an initial agreement to extend the ceasefire.

An Israeli official told The Jerusalem Post that “Mojtaba is difficult to reach, as he is reportedly in a secure location and recovering from injuries. As a result, every response takes time.”

Faisal J. Abbas, the Editor-in-Chief of Arab News, noted that peace is possible with Israel but that the country “needs to embrace a two-state solution.”
