Defense Minister Israel Katz threatened to set Iran back decades if the Islamic regime attacked Israel in a Rosh Hashanah message to Iranian civilians on Thursday.
Katz threatened to attack Iranian energy infrastructure if regime leadership decided to strike Israel.
"Any attack on Israel for any reason and anywhere will be met with a powerful response," he said, "which will inflict severe damage on Iran that it has not yet suffered to this day, including on its central energy facilities, which provide resources and capabilities for the Iranian war and terror system and for harming the citizens of the State of Israel."
He also said that Israel's retaliation would set Iran's progress back by decades, and that the IDF was "alert and ready" to carry out such a mission.
Katz wishes Iranian Jews a happy new year
In his message, he wished Iranian civilians a new year in which their country would be free of oppression and tyranny.
He also wished Iranian Jews a happy new year, telling them they were part of "a glorious Jewish history" and that they would "always be in our hearts."
Katz concluded by wishing Israeli and global Jewry a happy new year, ending with a traditional Rosh Hashanah blessing against Israel's enemies: "May our enemies and our haters and all who seek our harm depart."
